Pros

  • Ability for the user to drill into the transactional details.
  • You can use the security built into MR to control who can view what information. Limit access to the report or specific trees by user.

Cons

  • Users must have a secure connection to the MR server to be able to view the report. Can’t view the report from home unless you have a VPN connection to work.
  • When the user opens the report it is the most current report that has been run. Requires each version of the report to be in a unique location in the MR viewer.

Improvements

FRx also had e-mail capabilities but it was an attached file. With MR it is a link to the server which maintains the security of who can view the data.

E-mailing – MR Viewer

There are two different options to e-mail a report to the end user. One thing to remember is that you are not e-mailing a physical file but a report link.

Option 1
Email Icon

After you have generated the report and added any comments to your report you
can now e-mail the report. With the report open, click the e-mail icon or go to
the menu and select File/Send Link Using E-mail. This will open a new e-mail
from outlook and automatically insert the report link.

Option 2 (use if Outlook is not installed)

Copy Link IconAfter you have generated the report and added any comments to your report you can now copy the report link. With the report open, click the copy link icon or go to the menu and select Edit/Copy. This will copy the report link to the computers clipboard. Now you can paste the link into an e-mail for the users to click on.

E-mailing – Web Viewer

Currently there is not an option to directly e-mail a report link from the Web Viewer. A way around this is to copy the url at the top of the browser and e-mail that.
