Fusion Medical Staffing is a nationwide healthcare staffing company located in Omaha, Neb. They specialize in staffing healthcare professionals in the areas of Allied and Therapy Staffing, Lab and Travel Nursing in hospitals, clinics, nursing facilities and homes in all 50 states.
Since opening in September 2009, the company has experienced significant growth, was mentioned in Inc. 5000’s Fastest Growing Companies and was named Staffing Industry Analysts’ Best Staffing Firm to Temp For in 2016. Word has traveled fast, prompting more clients to seek out Fusion Medical Staffing because of their reputation for providing the most qualified medical professionals in the industry.
With such rapid growth, keeping up with the billing process was one of the biggest issues for Fusion Medical Staffing. The company was generating hundreds of invoices each week and quickly outpacing its ability to keep up with the volume. The manual work was time-consuming and prone to human error. At the end of Boyer’s short 4-month project, Fusion Medical Staffing was able to automate this process and significantly reduce time spent invoicing while also improving accuracy.
Fusion Medical Staffing chose Microsoft Dynamics GP in part due to the Encore Project Tracking component, which provides a simple project tracking approach. Modules they implemented include:
- General Ledger
- Payables Management
- Receivables Management
- Encore’s Project Tracker
- Integration Manager
- Collection Management Module
- Forms Printer
Boyer & Associates assisted Fusion Medical Staffing in the implementation of Dynamics GP in early 2016. The implementation helped the rapidly growing company manage their growth better with an off-the-shelf tool that did not require customization.
With the help of Fusion Medical Staffing’s competent accounting staff, Boyer was able to complete the project on time and within budget. Gina Sladek, chief financial officer at Fusion Medical Staffing, said the overall process was smoother than she had expected and not as daunting as she had feared.
Sladek was especially thrilled to see that billing hours went from 32 hours per week down to 16 hours per week.
“We have a Microsoft product that works very well with the rest of the Microsoft Office suite and we are now able to better manage our billing demands. This is huge to us. We can do almost twice as many invoices in half the time. Boyer and Microsoft provided us with a reliable accounting software environment in which we run into few errors,” Sladek said.
The data migration process took time because of data inconsistencies in Fusion Medical Staffing’s old system. Now, however, they have a system that works much more seamlessly and consistently, providing accurate reporting and project tracking.
Sladek was pleased with the competency of the staff at Boyer. With Boyer, Fusion Medical Staffing received support from a group that understands projects and how to track them, as well as billing and how to streamline that process. Boyer provided true experts on Dynamics GP, including Renee McLain, whose background as a controller gave key insights into the process.
Sladek said the consulting team was also patient in teaching her staff how to navigate the new system:
“Boyer has encouraged self-reliance and we have achieved it to a large extent. The combination of capable people on both sides kept down both the disruption level and costs. The reduction in both makes us more competitive,” she said.
Fusion Medical Staffing expects to enlist Boyer & Associates’ help again in the future when they are ready to add a Fixed Assets module.
