Boyer’s newest project manager has a history in healthcare and eight years of experience as a PM. Neil Gupta joined Boyer in June as a senior project manager for Microsoft CRM and ERP.
Gupta spent the first six years of his career in the healthcare industry, managing a contact center and using the organization’s home-grown CRM system to track patients. As he started learning more about the systems his company used, the technological aspect behind their operations piqued his interest.
“I realized that there was this whole other world beyond CRM,” he said.
He shifted gears to attend a training program designed to fast-track a role in software consulting. His natural ability for leadership led him to decide that project management might be the ideal role for him, a gut feeling that his instructor quickly confirmed.
He’s been doing project management ever since and is now a certified ScrumMaster with a master’s degree in business administration and general management.
“I enjoy crossing things off my list. It’s my way to ensure that our team is reaching our goals each and every day,” Gupta said.
He joined HCL Technologies in 2017. He’s been managing Microsoft CRM projects for the last eight years, ever since the days of Microsoft CRM 2011. Gupta said he appreciates the flexibility inherent in the solution.
“I love that it’s highly customizable,” he said. “The flexibility to deliver capabilities critical to our clients drives me to help our customers make the most of the Microsoft stack.”
He also enjoys collaborating with his internal team to create innovative solutions to meet a particular need.
“I love seeing our team be able to overcome solution challenges, coming up with creative ways to solve for the ambitious product requirements that a client might throw at you,” he said.
His favorite project to date showcases that exact type of creativity. For one client, his team created a canvas app from the ground up to mimic a price configuration tool so the client could avoid purchasing a third-party piece of software.
“The solution we built really displayed a ton of creativity and technical solutioning,” he said.
Gupta was already familiar with the Boyer brand and looking for a more collaborative place to work when a former coworker told him about a recently opened PM position. He jumped at the opportunity.
“The feeling of oneness and unity within your own team for me is a big part of it,” he said. He added that he appreciates Boyer’s culture of “being collaborative, doing the right thing, striving for excellence in what you’re doing and thinking team along the way.”
Passionate about working with SMBs and NPOs, Gupta looks forward to projects where he can quickly see the results of his hard work. He’s excited to watch those digital transformations take place before his eyes.
“I like the ability to see the real world experience and impact that our project and solution has,” he said.
Just one week on the job as a senior project manager, Gupta was already diving into projects and happy with his decision to move to Boyer.
“It’s been really warm. Everyone’s been super welcoming … I have nothing but optimism about my time here and the future,” he said.
Gupta lives in New Jersey, about 30 minutes east of Philadelphia. He and his wife have two children, a 5-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son.
He enjoys playing soccer or golf and checking out family-friendly farm breweries with his family. Not one to stay still for long, he has renovated several rooms in his house on his own and traveled to Ireland several times.
