Canada is making massive investments in artificial intelligence, ranking 4th globally with more than $15 billion USD poured into AI over the past decade. We’re ahead of Germany, India, Korea and France, a clear signal that our government and private sectors see AI as a strategic priority.
But here’s the paradox: we’re investing billions in a technology most Canadians don’t understand or even trust. A 2025 global study reveals that Canada ranks:
- 44th out of 47 countries in AI literacy and training
- 42nd in trust in AI systems
- Only 24% of Canadians feel they have received enough AI training
This disconnect is alarming. We’re betting big on AI to drive productivity, innovation, and competitiveness, yet the public lacks the skills and confidence to adopt it.
Why our AI investment matters
AI isn’t just a tech trend. It’s a foundational shift in how we work, learn, and grow our economy. As AI becomes more embedded in our everyday lives, those who can leverage these tools will undoubtedly be more productive than those who can’t.
If Canadians aren’t equipped to use AI tools, we risk:
- Slower adoption across industries
- Missed opportunities for innovation
- Widening productivity gaps
As a president at a tech company focused heavily on Microsoft’s AI solutions, this concerns me. Canada’s AI future is being built on unstable ground. Without widespread AI literacy, the benefits of this innovation will be minimal, and trust will be impossible.
What Boyer Technologies Canada is doing
At Boyer Technologies Canada we believe that investment in technology must be matched by investment in people. That’s why we’re partnering up with Microsoft to unlock the full potential of AI by offering the training Canadians need. These include:
- AI Training Events
- AI Learning Portals
- AI Copilot business benefits & road mapping consultation
- AI Copilot & agent training
- M365 Office AI Copilot productivity training
Canada has the capital, the talent, and the ambition. Now we need to bridge the gap between investment and education — or risk falling behind in the AI race. Together, we can make sure that Canada leads not only in AI investment but also in AI adoption.
