Brett Barabash joins growing NAV practice
Boyer & Associates now has a full-time manager for our growing Dynamics NAV practice. We are pleased to announce Brett Barabash of Rosemount as our new Dynamics NAV Practice Leader starting Sept. 1.
Barabash will lessen the workload for Marcus Haug, who was doing double-duty overseeing both our NAV team and overall operations.
Barabash has 10 years of experience with Dynamics NAV, most recently as the software development manager for Solution Dynamics.
He first met the Boyer staff about 12 years ago. His employer at the time, Tappe Construction, had recently implemented Dynamics SL (then known as Solomon) and brought in Boyer & Associates to support the new software.
“(Boyer is) a very well-established company and one that has a very good reputation of being a knowledgeable and trustworthy company. That’s what I experienced as an end-user and that’s what I’ve heard from other people that are Boyer customers.”

Though he hasn’t worked directly with Boyer since then, Barabash said the Plymouth company’s reputation has always been excellent within the accounting software industry.
“(Boyer is) a very well-established company and one that has a very good reputation of being a knowledgeable and trustworthy company. That’s what I experienced as an end-user and that’s what I’ve heard from other people that are Boyer customers,” he said.
Barabash has spent the bulk of his career working with and developing Microsoft’s Dynamics NAV software.
When the economy collapsed in 2010, he found himself out of a job along with two-thirds of the workforce. He made the most out of a bad situation, offering his NAV expertise on a consultant basis for a few years before going back full time with Solution Dynamics, where he had been employed once before.
Barabash was impressed with the size and stability of Boyer & Associates and was eager to join the team when he heard about the open position.
“I’ve been quite familiar with the company,” he said. “When this opportunity came up, it looked like a really good fit.”
Barabash said the Boyer position offers more managerial responsibilities than his previous job and reflects the direction that he was looking to go.
He said his goal right now is “just to learn as much as possible about the team as it stands right now and what sorts of processes are in place and what do people think is working really well and what could use improvement.”
Barabash believes that his experience both with the technical aspects of the software and in managerial positions will be an asset to the team. Whereas some managers don’t have the technical experience, and some technical experts have no leadership experience, he has both.
As the company’s new NAV Practice Leader, Barabash expects to lead by example and listen a lot.
“I’m hoping with this position to continue to be able to be working alongside my team, to jump in where it’s needed, to be showing them as opposed to dictating orders,” he said. He added that he expects to rely on Boyer’s already-competent NAV team, “going off their instinct along with my own.”
Barabash, a Canadian native, moved to Minnesota in 1998. He now lives in Rosemount with his wife, Nicole, and their two children: 16-year-old Taylor is an aspiring professional swimmer and 14-year-old Chase spends his free time playing video games.
When he’s not helping out at his daughter’s swim meets, Barabash moonlights as the lead singer and guitar player for the rock band, Broken Class. He also enjoys doing light construction/woodworking projects around the house.
Barabash can be reached by calling 763-412-4334 or emailing bbarabash@boyerassoc.com.
