Do you often wonder what Dynamics GP version number you are on? We often get questions about the version numbers and it’s easy to get confused by the number sequence. For many years, the version numbers for the Dynamics GP software were consecutive numbers such as 7, 8, 9, and 10. Updates to a version came out as a point release like, 8.5 or 9.5. Starting with release “11”, Microsoft started naming the Dynamics GP releases by the year released, instead of by the next sequential release number. If you’ve migrated from FRx to Management Reporter, you may have noticed there may be some fonts that are not available on the system. The migration report may show that all fonts migrated successfully but when you open a Row Definition or Column Definition you may receive an error that the font cannot be found. Dynamics GP and a Get/Change Error on Saving the Customer Card.
Recently a customer was trying to add an email address associated with one of the address IDs. When they tried to save the customer card they received the following error, “A get/change first operation on table ‘doCustBillingAddress’ (45).” We hadn’t seen this specific error before and a Bing search provided no guidance. In this scenario all the addresses associated with this vendor were set to PRIMARY. We created a new Address ID called MAIN and updated all the addresses to be associated with MAIN. Then we deleted the old Address ID PRIMARY. Saved customer card and error went away. We didn’t determine what caused the error, but sometimes the simple solution is all that is needed.
